French artist Ernest Pignon Ernest creates black and white paste ups, usually figurative, that are connect to the places history and / or it’s social and political problems. This may seem like an old hat, but Pignon Ernest started with streetart containing these themes long before the medium was established.
Today, at age 76, he is still an active streetartist. This work from 2011 called “extases” consists of 7 posters, each 3-4 Meters high, Glück onto aluminium posted and suspended above a dark, reflecting ground that looks like water.
While this series was displayed at the musée d’art et d’histoire Saint Denis, Pignon Ernest still creates Most of his art in urban spaces.
