Stroke 02 in Munich
Last Week “stroke 02″ artfair for urban art in munich was the place to see a load of intersting artwork and galleries.
Ma´claim Crew and Herakut made life performance in front of the building. In the pictures you see Hera, the female part of the artist duo Herakut at work.

Belgian artist ROA presented a very impressive piece which gave an outside and inside view on he rabbit .. with a little surprise.
Pretty Portal gallery presented ecb Hendrik Beikirch, SAM3 and Pascal Schwendener, student of Peter Doig at Düsseldorf art academy.

case at Carmichael Gallery
Carmichael Gallery just announced The L.A. case, an exhibition of new works on canvas by German artist case. This is case’s first US solo exhibition and the second time he has exhibited at Carmichael Gallery.
case’s new body of work references imagery from elaborate, self-staged photo shoots using spray paint on canvas. Combining exacting technical expertise with an innovative hint of liberation and irony, he investigates the parallels that exist between the conflicting states of convention and controversy, manipulating beauty in a dark, thrilling and provocative manner.
case is widely recognized as one of the best photorealistic spray paint artists in the world. His groundbreaking technique, detailed in the book Ma’Claim: Photorealistic Graffiti, Falk Lehmann and Steffen Petermann, Publikat Verlags und Handels GmbH and Co. KG, Germany, 2006, has set new standards and established a strong international collector base and fan network.
Born in Erfurt, Germany, in 1979, case has exhibited his fine art in galleries in the UK, Germany and US. He achieved his Diploma in Art Restoration and Conservation from Erfurt University Of Applied Sciences. case is also a founding member of graffiti crew Ma’Claim, a group of artists renowned throughout the world for their striking photorealistic murals. He currently lives and works in Frankfurt.

case (ma´claim): Bekannter Fremder at gallery pretty portal
case is one of the members of Graffiti- crew MA`CLAIM, who brought the photorealim into graffiti. Ma´claim is AKUT, the male part of the artist duo HERAKUT, RUSK and TASSO. Together they invented the style of Graffoto and gained very fast a big interanational reputation for that.
Since 16 years case is working with spraycans and in the last years he started his solo carrer, showing and selling art. Starting in the streets, the art of case is now to be seen in galleries from London to Los Angeles. case, who lives in Frankfurt/ Main focusses on different aspects in his work. On one hand we have a detailled description that looks slick and heavily rouged. On the other hand we have surrealistic elements, which are setting up a tension between image and observer.
case is painting his pictures on rough materials like corrugated cardboard which he fixes together with selfadhisive tape. This structure is the synonym for the walls case is used to work on.

TASSO Ma´claim Interview
Das Online Magazin graffart.eu hat Tasso, Gründer und Mitglied der Ma´claim Crew und Schöpfer des Begriffs Graffoto getroffen und interviewed.
Let us begin as usual-introduce yourself- tag, crew, where do you come from ?
I’m TASSO, born 1966, living in Meerane (former German Democratic Republic). I was trained as a butcher, later as a builder.
I started noticing graffiti in the mid-eighties, when I also started using stencils and spraying simple slogans.
I seriously started in 1991 and have been spraying ever since. Ma’claim was established 3 January 2001, the crew consists of AKUT, CASE, RUSK, TASSO plus our Internet specialist Ms SCHRÖE:
How many years ago you lost your normal life ? and do you feel sorry for it?
I’ve been a self-employed sprayer since 2000 and I still think that was the best decision of my life, even if I have sometimes been fearing for my existence during the winter months for the last two years.
