Introducing BASE23
During my Visit at Stroke artfair last year i met Base23 and was amazed by his artwork immediately. He describes himself: ” The RAL-Galaxia and their life forms were discovered by me in 2008 after doing research in the laboratories for about 17,5 years in the aerosol universe. Since then the color machines and animals have landed on planet earth to make our daily environment more colorful. ”
BASE23 lives and works in Berlin and has exhibited in Barcelona, London, Melbourne, Paris, Berlin and several German cities. BASE23 started with graffiti in 1989 and went on to study, majoring in graphic design/typography.

Kiss the Sky
Skalitzers presents the second show in the Fine Lines series, exploring the role of tagging within contemporary art.
The exhibition ‘Kiss the City’ features Parisian artists L’Atlas, Babou, Sun7 and Tanc.
With roots in tagging since the early 90s, it is the making of their mark that unites them. Working together since 2003,
their works individually interpret the emotion, ambience, gesture and search for the master-stroke.
“My heart rhythm moves my arm like a metronome. I must try not to control this flow but only understand the
composition it causes to appear.” (Tanc)
Opening: Friday April 30th, from 7pm.
Exhibition until May 28th.

XOOOOX at CircleCulture Gallery Berlin
..The second solo exhibition at Circleculture Gallery in Berlin will once again highlight XOOOOX’s unique understanding of the contemporary fashion world. On display are delicate stenciled works and installations in an arte povera style that consist of weathered and decaying materials. In these works XOOOOX distinctly contrasts the glamour of fashion culture with existentialist themes such as vulnerability and transience. The life-size stencils of professionally styled photo models form the leitmotif of the figurative “studies” and scrutinize the worship cult and the seduction techniques of haute couture. Beguilingly beautiful, XOOOOX’s women convey a sense of melancholy and introversion and allude to he growing displeasure with the uniform, consumption-driven hype of the fashion industry.
Barry McGee, Ed Templeton and Raymond Pettibon in Berlin
CircleCulture Gallery shows Barry McGee, Ed Templeton and Raymond Pettibon.
This exhibition serves to focus on the recent artistic output by three underground heroes from the worlds of skateboarding, graffiti and punk. Even though each of these artists has now firmly established themselves in the world of contemporary art, there are still common themes between them that hail back to their subcultural roots. It could be described primarily as an overriding sense of concern for and representation of the downtrodden, the outsider, the anti-hero. more
EXHIBITION: 10TH APRIL TO 30TH MAY 2009
TUESDAY TO SATURDAY, 2 PM – 6 PM
