Temporary Metropolis will be presented by The BritWeek Art Program in collaboration with L.A. ART MACHINE as a landmark art installation by world-renowned street artists D*FACE (UK) and MEAR ONE (US) with support from additional british and american artists.
Utilizing approximately 20,000 square-feet within a historic warehouse in downtown Los Angeles and working across all media (sculpture, digital media, paintings, prints, performance, etc. ) the artists will create a no-holds-barred urban experience. The exhibition will be created out of found objects and recycled material, as the artists embrace the decaying and discarded as a new creative world of possibilities.

Explosive Colours by Morten Andersen
Morten Andersen paints and stretches his lines artistically within the neo form of abstraction known today as urban abstract contemporary.

In his artwork Morten channels an intense relationship and obsession for crooked lines, abstract forms, transparent overlaying techniques, and graphically styled patterns into a universe of tones, complemented and sparked by the flow of a few contrast colors and powerful visual elements. Marker work is a strong player in Morten’s work, and although it’s very time intensive, it gives the final work a delicate hand styled skin.
Energetically, expressively, everything is detailed to the extreme through hard contrasts, it’s stretched, twisted, and bears a raw energy similar to that of graffiti. Morten continues to stylistically pursue this point of origin in his visuals, building on a decade of aerosol calisthenics that paved his way into the fine arts.
Besides showing his works in selected group shows and solo shows in numerous galleries and exhibitions in Denmark, the last couple of years has seen Morten’s work travel to quite a few places abroad, both single handedly, but also showing with his artist crews, OSC Click and AOS (Army Of Snipers).

NUEVO MUNDO: LATIN AMERICAN STREET ART
Suben and Gestalten announce the upcoming international release of the book:
NUEVO MUNDO: LATIN AMERICAN STREET ART by Maximiliano Ruiz
European Release: April 2011 – International Release: May 2011

One could argue that today’s most innovative street artists come from Latin America. The unique visual styles of Os Gêmeos, Bastardilla, Vitché, Saner, Jorge Rodriguez Gerada, and others are not only highly respected in the international art scene, but their work has also been exhibited at renowned museums including the Tate Modern and Fondation Cartier.
Nuevo Mundo provides a comprehensive documentation of current street art in Latin America by exploring the full spectrum of regional scenes in their impressive diversity. The book is structured into chapters that introduce work from Argentina, Brazil, Central America, Chile, Columbia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
Nuevo Mundo features not only established artists from Latin America, but also promising new talents. In addition to inspiring images, the book’s informed texts describe the history and context of the region as a whole and also give insight into each scene.
The explosive mixture of indigenous cultures, local folklore, and the history of European colonization has created a unique visual style. The high regard in which these young street artists are now held around the world is a sign of the new self-confidence of an entire continent.
Maximiliano Ruiz has explored for years the subject of Latin American street art as author, curator, and film director. Previously based in Buenos Aires, he now works from Barcelona.
